Is It Spring Yet?

 Is It Spring Yet?

OK . . . so I have finally come out of hibernation and it's still cold out. What's up with that, I thought we were getting global warming but this winter is taking forever to go away.

The drive belt broke on my snowblower a couple of weeks ago with the last snow.

I guess it's as good of a time as any to say to WATCH OUT for motorcycles - second nature in the south where bikes are on the road all year but in the Northern States and Canada, you don't see too many motorcycles in the snow.

Be extra careful checking your mirrors and always check your blind spots before changing lanes or making sudden unsignaled turns

Half way there

This is about half way to where I want to be about now with the colder weather coming this way.

New River Gorge Bridge near Fayetteville, West Virginia was for many years the longest arch bridge in the world.

(still just as long, someone just made a longer one)

Anyway, I'm just not ready for the snow yet

and I'm definitely not looking forward to driving around in the stuff

Ah . . . . . . . . . . .
That's better.

Where ever there are palm trees, they probably don't sell snow shovels.

I'm not a biker but it's a cool place to go

Earl's Hideaway in Sebastian Florida, one of the best places around to just hang out with a "cold one" on their sand bar listening to the band, or there's Captain Hiram's just a couple of blocks up the river with a nice sand bar and beach on the river to enjoy a cold one and listen to their band.

Captain Hiram's incidentally is where Pete Harris played for years.

Friday the 13th bikers gathering

Friday the 13th is rolling by again, watch out for the bikers they will be heading to and from Port Dover Ontario by the thousands for the next few days.

Since 1981, there has been a tradition of bikers gathering in Port Dover for Friday the 13th. Chris Simons and a bunch of freinds, through word of mouth, got together at the old Commercial Hotel. It was Friday the 13th of November. They had such a good time they decided to do it every Friday the 13th. On Friday, June 13, 2008 an estimated 150,000 bikers and spectators converged on Port Dover.

The Bikes are Back in Port Dover

Another Friday 13th has come and gone without any notable news from Port Dover where thousands upon thousands of bikers go EVERY Friday the 13th.

I live about an hour from Port Dover (not a biker) and had several hundred bikes go by my house through the day in some very large groups where a normal nice March day there might be twenty or thirty all day.

This is an excellent time to remind people to look out for the bikes, they've been scarce in the Northern areas for a while.

Check your mirrors twice, of course make sure they are aimed for maximum view, and give the bikers a chance, a motorcycle is no match for a car or a truck when it changes lanes.

Drive safe!
