Truck accidents on our roads

Truck accidents occur daily somewhere on our roads. This was one I passed today which closed eastbound lanes into Toronto for several hours.

I kept hearing on the news that a truck load of pipe shifted, I thought it fell onto the highway as the truck entered or left the highway or perhaps the trailer jackknifed and lost the load.

Then I drove by the scene. The load shifted straight forward into the cab of the truck. I never heard any news on the driver in any of the news or traffic reports so I don't know if he was hurt. Driving by the scene it looked like the steering wheel was intact but I couldn't see whether the seat was intact.

Motorists passing by this scene could see a graphic example of why you should keep a safe distance between vehicles and not expect that a truck can stop quickly like a car.

I don't know the cause of this accident, but the effect paralyzed traffic heading into Toronto for hours at an enormous cost and will apply a devastating blow to the driver if he survived, his family and the trucking company.

Road Rage

There are road rage incidents happening all around these days but this time it's deadly.

Yesterday in the early morning an incident in Milton Ontario caused a fatal accident when a car cut in front of this SUV and slammed on his brakes.

The SUV driver hit the median wall and rolled while trying to avoid the car and was ejected and killed.

Unfortunately, However trajic and unnecessary this accident was, it won't effect many people's habits after a few days when the news stories calm down.

Drivers need to relax, leave a little more space between vehicles and be a little more considerate of other drivers needs. It's stressful enough for most people just driving on the highways not to mention the dangers of radical actions taken in the heat of a moment when someone gets pissed off at another driver.

Fender bender - Hertz Don't It

I've been driving a lot lately and seeing lots of things to post about but just no time left each day to do it.

Well today, after passing two highway accidents and one accident at an intersection, I was sitting at a stop light and a car behind me edged ahead and bumped into the liftgate of the truck I was driving.

Of course there's not a scratch on the truck, but the car didn't do as well. He took out the plastic headlight lens, put a small scratch on the hood and a big gouge on the front quarter panel.

The bad thing for him was that it was a Hertz rental and he didn't take out any insurance, ouch!

Ten minutes after that incident, I passed the truck rollover on a highway exit ramp I've been hearing about on the radio all day.

Please keep a safe distance and drive safe.
